Angels Beat Red Sox 5-4; Force ALDS Game 4

Josh Beckett started Game 3 of the ALDS at Fenway Park versus the LA Angels looking to propel the Sox to the ALCS. The Angels grabbed a quick 1-0 lead.  The Sox loaded the bases in the second inning and with two out scored three runs on a bloop pop-up single to center field by Ellsbury.  The ball dropped in center field between Tori Hunter and Kendrick.  It was the first three rbi single in postseason baseball history.  The Angels tied the game 3-3 in the third on a two run shot by Napoli.  The first Angels homer in the post season in 69 innings.  The Angels loaded the bases with two out in the fourth but were unable to score.  Napoli hit his second home run of the game in the fifth to give the Angels a 4-3 lead.  Youkilis drove in Ellsbury in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score 4-4.  The game stayed tied and went into extra innings.  The Red Sox loaded the bases in the 10th inning but failed to score.  The Angels scored in the top of the 12th to break  the 11 game postseason winning streak the Red Sox had over the Angels.  Game 4 will be played Monday.  At 5 hours and 19 minutes, this was the longest game in ALDS history.

The Boston Red Sox racked up another postseason victory against the Anaheim Angels to make it eleven straight playoff wins over the team.  Another home rune by Jason Bay lead the Sox to an early lead the a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning by J.D. Drew broke a 5-5 tie.   The Sox went on to a 7-5 win and a 2-0 lead in the American League Divisional Series over the Angels.  The series moves to Fenway Park Sunday for Game 3 Red Sox starter Josh Beckett and a possible three game sweep over the team with the best record in MLB’s 2008 regular season.  The 2008 Boston Red Sox are proving to be just as exciting as previous versions.
