Josh Beckett started Game 3 of the ALDS at Fenway Park versus the LA Angels looking to propel the Sox to the ALCS. The Angels grabbed a quick 1-0 lead. The Sox loaded the bases in the second inning and with two out scored three runs on a bloop pop-up single to center field by Ellsbury. The ball dropped in center field between Tori Hunter and Kendrick. It was the first three rbi single in postseason baseball history. The Angels tied the game 3-3 in the third on a two run shot by Napoli. The first Angels homer in the post season in 69 innings. The Angels loaded the bases with two out in the fourth but were unable to score. Napoli hit his second home run of the game in the fifth to give the Angels a 4-3 lead. Youkilis drove in Ellsbury in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score 4-4. The game stayed tied and went into extra innings. The Red Sox loaded the bases in the 10th inning but failed to score. The Angels scored in the top of the 12th to break the 11 game postseason winning streak the Red Sox had over the Angels. Game 4 will be played Monday. At 5 hours and 19 minutes, this was the longest game in ALDS history.

The Red Sox front office bean counters way back when got the deal of the century when they signed Manny Ramrez. Manny has always come through for the Red Sox, even after being put on waivers by the know it all wonderboy bean counters in the Red Sox front office. the front office dows not go out and produce runs or excite the fans, it is the players, the real people on the field day in and day out. This is not the way a team should treat a superstar who produces:

The Sox spanked him publicly Friday. For the first time. Outraged he would quit on them at the start of the Yankee series, they let him dangle in the breeze for all the world to see. Convinced he was lying about his right knee, they sent him for an MRI on both knees (in case Manny suddenly tried to claim it was the left knee). Then they made sure we all knew the MRIs were clean - getting word out before the end of the game. Late Friday, the club told him he’d be suspended if he refused to play Saturday - a sanction the Players Association would have grieved and won.
